Origin Story of The Grab

A little about our journey so far

Sautéed Grabba is a newly formed group currently based out of Boston, Massachusetts. The band is a quartet that are all finishing up their studies at Berklee College of Music. The group met in classes taught by professors such as Marquis Hill, Matthew Stevens, Tony Malaby, Kenny Werner, Francisco Mela, Jason Palmer, and more.

The group features drummer Trey Tarzia, bassist Ollie Unger, guitarist San Trinh, and trumpeter Walker McSween. All four members are involved in national touring acts based in their home cities and sharing the stage with artists such as Cosmic Collective, Tony Malaby, Noah Pierre Band, Lord Jah Monte Ogbon, Ha Tran, Joe Morris, DJ Harrison, Eli Yacinthe, Austin Loman, My Linh, Quoc Thien and others. Sautéed Grabba brings these four close friends together to create the music they’ve always dreamed of making. The band is centered around the live performances, which are all improvised.

The group’s deep chemistry and vast musical vocabulary make each performance unique. The band's sound is centered around experimenting with live electronics that are incorporated with jazz harmony and modern dance/electronic rhythms. The contribution of each member is vital, as everyone equally contributes to the band’s creative direction in their own way. The band has a residency every other Friday at Wally’s Jazz Club in Boston. Their first album, set to release Summer 2026, is a set of loose compositions and improvisations derived from the live sets. Future live shows are soon to be announced.
